Writing a good article that stands the test of time is extremely tough. It takes time to research, layout your arguments and stitch them together into a clean flow. Then you need to start with an engaging lede that draws the audience in. The article should also have a clear nutgraf — the pivotal point that you want to convey.
Similarly creating videos is extremely complicated. You require the right equipment — lights and cameras. You need to be skilled enough to understand lighting, angle and distance at which to hold the camera, and so on. Then comes editing the video. All the footage you recorded and audio you recorded needs to fit together into a narrative. Not only is it complicated, it is expensive and time consuming.
Compared to both — getting someone’s sound bite seems to be easy. In its simplest form, ask them to go WhatsApp, record a voice message and send it across to you.
But audio clips in articles rarely get heard. We humans are visual creatures. We need something to see.
Can sound bites be quickly made visual?
1. Sign up
Veed.io is an online video editing tool.
2. Create a project
Here is an audio clip of Prime Minister Vajpayee announcing India’s nuclear tests in 1998.
Once uploaded, you will see the audio file in the bottom timeline.
Each social platform has a different size recommendation. Since we want to create a video for Instagram, we leave the canvas at square that is 1:1
4. Background Colour
Click on the black circle next to the label “Background colour” and set colour as #EAF1F9
Upload your logo and position it on top right corner. You might want to remove background of your logo before using it.
6. Wave animation
Next, let us add a wave visual animation. A wave changes based on the audio file and keeps the video engaging. The orange colour that I use is #EB4C1A
7. Call to action
Next, let us add a call to action so audience on social media do not think it is just an image. This is achieved through text fields.
Click on the Text button in the left sidebar. Once in, click on “Add New Text” and copy paste “Listen ►” without the quotes. Change the font to Roboto. Next, click on the T icon inside of a circle and change font colour to white. Click on + Advanced link and choose the dropdown with text “Normal” and change it to “Lines hard”. Then click on the B icon next to it and change colour to #EB4C1A. Finally move the Listen box parallel to the icon.
Add what is the audio clip about and who is speaking using text fields.
9. Refine the subtitles.
But often, the translation program might not be able to translate Indian voice into text unless it is spoken very clearly. In our case, it was not able to translate. So we went ahead and manually transcribed the video.

The goal of this video was to showcase how easily an audio file can be converted into a video. A professional designer should be able to help you design a template that is best suited to your brand and use case.
